Allergological study in patients vaccinated against COVID-19 with suspected allergic reactions - Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology

Allergological study in patients vaccinated against COVID-19 with suspected allergic reactions - Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology

Source : https://aacijournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13223-022-00685-z

Background One of the main barriers to vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 is the fear of developing hypersensitivity reactions to any of its components. Although these reactions are very rare, it is...

Conclusions: Thanks to the allergological and immunohistochemical study, the vaccination protocol could be completed in about half of the patients who presented suspected hypersensitivity reactions to SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. IDTs with vaccines could be a valuable method for assessing the immunogenicity of the vaccines.

Brain motor and fear circuits regulate leukocytes during acute stress - Nature

Brain motor and fear circuits regulate leukocytes during acute stress - Nature

Source : https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-04890-z

The nervous and immune systems are intricately linked1. Although psychological stress is known to modulate immune function, mechanistic pathways linking stress networks in the brain to peripheral leukocytes remain poorly...

Collectively, these data show that distinct brain regions differentially and rapidly tailor the leukocyte landscape during psychological stress, thus calibrating the immune system’s capacity to respond to physical threats.

Conclusions: Based on studies published up to July 2021, most SARS-CoV-2 infections were not persistently asymptomatic, and asymptomatic infections were less infectious than symptomatic infections. Summary estimates from meta-analysis may be misleading when variability between studies is extreme and prediction intervals should be presented....
