A Preview of the National Lipid Association Scientific Sessions

The National Lipid Association (NLA) will host its annual scientific sessions in Las Vegas from May 30 to June 2, 2024. The mission of the NLA is to enhance the practice of lipid management in clinical practice, and attendees of the scientific sessions will explore lipid management for complex patients, the evolving landscape of clinical trials, challenges of patient statin tolerance, and drug interactions with lipid-lowering medications, among other topics.

Risk Factors and Lipid Metabolism Characteristics of Early-Onset Male Androgenetic Alopecia: a Pilot Study

Risk Factors and Lipid Metabolism Characteristics of Early-Onset Male Androgenetic Alopecia: a Pilot Study

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38738464/

Low HDL-C, UA, and 25(OH)D may be the independent risk factors for early-onset MAA. Abnormal lipid metabolism was observed in early-onset MAA, wherein Cer and SM may serve as protective...

The Association Between the Triglyceride-Glucose Index and the Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in US Population Aged ≤ 65 Years With Prediabetes or Diabetes: a Population-Based Study

The Association Between the Triglyceride-Glucose Index and the Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in US Population Aged ≤ 65 Years With Prediabetes or Diabetes: a Population-Based Study

Source : https://cardiab.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12933-024-02261-8

Background The relationship between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the U.S. population under 65 years of age with diabetes or prediabetes is unknown....

The triglyceride-glucose index can be used as a valid predictor of early CV risk in diabetic and prediabetic patients aged <65 years in the United States.

Plasma Lipidomic Profiling Identifies Elevated Triglycerides as Potential Risk Factor in Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Plasma Lipidomic Profiling Identifies Elevated Triglycerides as Potential Risk Factor in Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38691814/

Elevated baseline plasma TG is associated with an increased risk of CIPN development and warrants further validation in other cohorts. Ultimately, this may enable therapeutic intervention.

The higher risk lipid profile had several elevated TG species and was independently associated with dose reduction/chemotherapy discontinuation when modeled with other clinical factors

Triglyceride-Glucose Index Is an Independent Predictor of Coronary Artery Calcification Progression in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease

Triglyceride-Glucose Index Is an Independent Predictor of Coronary Artery Calcification Progression in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease

Source : https://www.krcp-ksn.org/journal/view.php?doi=10.23876/j.krcp.23.264

Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is highly prevalent in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is associated with major adverse cardiovascular events and metabolic disturbances. The triglyceride-glucose index (TyGI), a...

A 1-point increase in the triglyceride-glucose index was related to increased risk of coronary artery calcification progression after adjustment.
