Menopause can significantly hasten bone loss. Mobile phones provide an efficient way to manage, track and understand menopause using apps. A previous review of menopause apps found numerous apps designed...
Existing menopause apps need more input from experts to improve the quality and functionality, using simple language. More emphasis on specific health problems during menopause, including osteoporosis, is required.
Impact of Estrogens on Resting Energy Expenditure: a Systematic Review
Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37544655/
The fear of weight gain is one of the main reasons for women not to initiate or to early discontinue hormonal contraception or menopausal hormone therapy. Resting energy expenditure is...
It should be emphasized that estrogens have an anorexigenic effect and thus prevent increased EI from compensating for increased REE. Together with this fact, our results suggest that the energy balance changes in a negative direction under the influence of estrogens. Thus, the widespread fear of weight gain solely as a result of taking HC or...
Unexpected Drug-Induced Liver Injury Associated With MenoFit: A Synbiotic Menopause Supplement
h 1 week of jaundice and abnormal liver biochemical tests in the absence of other risk factors and negative comprehensive workup for known etiologies of liver disease....
In the case described, given the significant improvement in liver tests on discontinuing the supplement and initiating steroids, the diagnosis of DILI was established. However, given the lack of long-term follow-up and lack of demonstration of normalization of liver tests, a suspicion of chronic DILI could not be ruled out.
Number of Vaginal Lactobacilli in Postmenopausal Women With Vaginal Atrophy Before and After Treatment With Erbium-YAG Laser: a Randomized Sham-Controlled Trial
Source : https://bmcwomenshealth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12905-023-02590-y
Primary objective To evaluate the effect of erbium-YAG laser on the number of vaginal lactobacilli in postmenopausal women. Secondary objectives To evaluate the effect of erbium-YAG laser on vaginal atrophy...
This study showed an improvement in vaginal lactobacilli grading after vaginal laser treatment. However, the difference in vaginal lactobacilli grading after treatment in both groups was not statistically significant.
The theme of the 2023 annual meeting of the North American Menopause Society, “Midlife Women’s Health in the Era of Precision Medicine,” set the tone for innovation.
The four-day program, which is taking place at the Marriott Downtown in Philadelphia, brought together more than 1,400 people from all over the world to discuss the latest thinking on addressing the symptoms of menopause and preventing or treating the health risks associated with advancing age in postmenopausal women.

Assessing Young Adults' Menopause Knowledge to Increase Understanding of Symptoms and Help Improve Quality of Life for Women Going Through Menopause: a Student Survey
Source : https://bmcwomenshealth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12905-023-02641-4
Background Due to menopause being a largely invisible and under-discussed topic in wider society, women often deal with menopause-related complications on their own.
Our findings provide evidence that young adults of both sexes have a general baseline knowledge of menopause and its symptoms and are open to learning strategies to help support menopausal women.
Role of Estrogen in the Regulation of Central and Peripheral Energy Homeostasis: From a Menopausal Perspective
Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37719789/
Estrogen plays a prominent role in regulating and coordinating energy homeostasis throughout the growth, development, reproduction, and aging of women. Estrogen receptors (ERs) are widely expressed in the brain and...
Cessation of the ovarian function with declined circulating E2 level leads to widespread changes in glucose and lipid metabolism. The adaption of women to menopause is individualized. Initiation of MHT at an early stage of menopause may effectively enhance the metabolic rate, and attenuate the development of obesity, insulin resistance, type...
