The Ability to Maintain Rhythm Is Predictive of ADHD Diagnosis and Profile

Source : https://bmcpsychiatry.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12888-023-05401-8

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most prevalent neuropsychiatric disorder in the world. Currently, the diagnosis is based mainly on interviews, resulting in uncertainties in the clinical assessment. While...

These results show that finger tapping and prism adaptation performance can differentiate between children with and without ADHD and even more accurately between children with and without deficits in attention, motor control, and perception.

Neuro-Ophthalmologic and Blood Biomarker Responses in ADHD Following Subconcussive Head Impacts: a Case-Control Trial

Neuro-Ophthalmologic and Blood Biomarker Responses in ADHD Following Subconcussive Head Impacts: a Case-Control Trial

Source : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10710155/

This clinical trial aimed to determine the influence of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) on neuro-ophthalmologic function and brain-derived blood biomarkers following acute subconcussive head impacts.

These findings suggest that 10 soccer headers can trigger astrocyte activation and ocular-motor impairments in individuals diagnosed with ADHD and those without ADHD. However, ADHD may reduce neuro-ophthalmologic function and heighten axonal response to soccer headers.

Association of Psychopharmacological Medication Preference With Autistic Traits and Emotion Regulation in ADHD

Association of Psychopharmacological Medication Preference With Autistic Traits and Emotion Regulation in ADHD

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38076669/

This study highlights emotion regulation difficulties and how different emotional profiles may influence medication selection in children with ADHD.

Multiple regression analyses revealed that nonacceptance of emotions predicted the switch to atomoxetine, whereas lack of emotional clarity predicted the maintenance of methylphenidate therapy, rather than autistic traits.

The Association Between Physical Activity and Sleep In Adult ADHD Patients With Stimulant Medication Use

The Association Between Physical Activity and Sleep In Adult ADHD Patients With Stimulant Medication Use

Source : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10698374/

Adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may experience sleep problems doubly suffering from the disease and side effects of stimulant medications. Physical activity (PA) is known to produce numerous beneficial effects...

The results of this study showed that adults with ADHD receiving stimulant medications who met the general recommendation of physical activity guidelines (150 min/week of moderate to vigorous physical activity) in the United States had a significantly lower risk of complaining of trouble sleeping.

Findings implied that poorer response inhibition led to an increase in avoidance motivation among children with ADHD, which can be challenging to regulate effectively due to impairment in the ability to resist avoidance motivation.
